California artist, Randy Honerlah, grew up in the San Francisco bay area and currently resides in the Sierra foothills with his wife Sharon.
Randy has been painting since he was a boy. He studied art in college and with various artists and workshops. After 35 plus years working in the semiconductor industry he is now retired and painting as inspiration strikes. He has won many local and national awards for his paintings in acrylic. His subject matter ranges from landscapes, floral, animals and abstract. His works are in private collections from California to Hawaii to Europe, as well as corporate collections. Randy is a Signature Artist in the International Society of Acrylic Painter.
Past artworks have been both representational and abstract: in oils, watercolors and acrylics. Today he focuses mainly on contemporary abstracts in acrylic medium. Through his use of vivid color and composition he enjoys manipulating shapes, textures and flowing colors – stirring the human emotion and placing the viewer in an unfamiliar perspective. Acrylics allow for a timelier layering of color and texture. Most of Randy’s paintings have seven or more paint layers and all are finished with a minimum of three varnish coats for protection of the piece.
